South Limestone Lane Closure Postponed

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 12, 2009) - The planned closure of two lanes on South Limestone between Waller Avenue/Cooper Drive and Gazette Avenue has been postponed until Tuesday, Nov. 17.

One lane of South Limestone in each direction was originally scheduled to close Wednesday night. The closure will now begin on Nov. 17 and continue through March 25. One northbound lane and one southbound lane will be closed between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., Mondays through Thursdays. Some work could occur on Friday nights, as well. 

No work will be done on holidays or nights when there are UK men’s basketball games at Rupp Arena or major concerts in downtown Lexington.  

Workers will be installing panels, windows, roofing, soffit and electrical systems to the steel pedway that is now in place. The pedway will serve the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital that is also under construction.  Motorists are asked to use caution when traveling through the work area.
