Euclid Avenue Lane Closed for Sanitary Sewer Construction
LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 13, 2020) — The south side lane of Euclid Avenue from Rose Street to Woodland Avenue has been closed for sanitary sewer construction until mid-September.
Euclid will remain two-way, but there will be no turn lane. Sidewalks will remain open on both sides of the street. Drivers are encouraged to slow down and use extra caution in construction zones.
Sanitary sewer construction also continues on Bolivar Street, where 350' of sewer pipe was laid in the ground last week. Bolivar is closed between Mill and Upper Streets. The south-side lane is expected to open later this week to facilitate the detour for the closure of South Upper Street and Winslow.
Waze will continue to be updated to reflect the traffic impacts related to sewer line construction.
Lexington’s multi-year project to replace two miles of sanitary sewer line from Oliver Lewis Way to Tates Creek Road, through the University of Kentucky campus and the Euclid business district, began in February this year. The original sanitary sewer is nearly 80 years old and in disrepair, which is why this new sewer line is needed.
