LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 11, 2020) — University of Kentucky Facilities Management is launching “Let’s Make A Difference: A Campus Partnership Initiative 2021,” where members of the UK community can submit a public space on campus that needs a transformation.

Projects can be indoors or outdoors, must be within the limit of $15,000 and could include paint updates, flooring updates, landscape updates, signage, lighting updates, deep cleaning and more.

“UK leadership is committed to transforming our campus, and in doing so, we want input from all campus constituents. This initiative allows us to accomplish both. These are small projects that often can have a large impact,” said Mary Vosevich, UK’s vice president for Facilities Management.

To submit an entry:

  • Take two to five photos or record a two minute video of the area you would like improved.
  • Explain how the proposed project will make a difference at UK and impact student, faculty, staff or the visitor experience.
  • Submit your idea to lets.make.a.difference@l.uky.edu

The deadline for departments to submit their projects is Jan. 15, 2021.

The winning entry will be funded by UK Facilities Management. For more information visit www.uky.edu/facilities/CPPD/make-difference.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.

In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
