LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 4, 2017) — The University of Kentucky, in partnership with JMI Sports — the official multimedia rights and corporate sponsorship partner of UK — is launching a new mobile app “Campus Chrome” aimed at providing UK students, faculty, staff and the entire Central Kentucky community with deals at local businesses.
Launching Aug. 20, and developed as part of a strategic partnership — among JMI Sports, the University of Kentucky, Bertram Marketing Group, Community Connect Expo and Angstrom Creative — Campus Chrome will be free to download and will include deals from local businesses from a wide range of categories including but not limited to restaurants, boutiques, retail, merchandise, auto dealerships, auto repair, salons and more.
To kick off the launch of the app, Campus Chrome will award one student user a full year’s tuition at the in-state rate at the end of the 2017-18 academic year to apply toward the next academic year or as reimbursement for a graduating student.
"This initiative is an opportunity to deliver tremendous value to our students, faculty and staff," said Eric N. Monday, UK’s executive vice president for finance and administration. "Their technology platform is unlike any other in the market and we are excited to be their first university partner."
Specifically, the Campus Chrome app will include functionality that will track the total dollar value of savings received.

"This new app will provide students and all users in Central Kentucky access to some of the best deals and promotions around, and provides local companies with a new avenue to effectively reach their target customers directly on their phones."
Local businesses have the opportunity to purchase low introductory level advertising packages with Campus Chrome, featuring the ability to offer deals and discounts to those users in and around the UK community.
Among many unique features, the app will feature a business profile portal empowering business owners and managers to manage their profile and content, including the frequency of ad delivery of deals to the consumer based on their specific location.
Businesses will also be provided a Campus Chrome-UK window decal to display in their locations, alerting customers they are participants in the Campus Chrome program as well as helping support the university through a portion of their advertising package being contributed back to the University of Kentucky.
