Annual Ceremony Will Memorialize Those Lost From the UK Community

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 12, 2016)  The annual University of Kentucky Remembers Ceremony will be held noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, on the plaza of the Main Building. The rain location is King Alumni House.

UK Remembers is an opportunity for the University of Kentucky community to pay respect to the alumni, faculty, staff and students who’ve passed away during the previous year. The ceremony will include a presentation of flags by the UK ROTC Color Guard; speakers who represent faculty, staff, students and alumni; and a musical tribute.

Additionally, a memorial banner will hang in the plaza the day of the ceremony. This year, the banner will include nearly 400 names of community members we’ve lost in the past year.

The event is open to the public, and attendees are invited to post pictures and memorial notes to the banner as a way to honor those who have passed. This year’s service has been organized by students from the Robinson Scholars Program and staff from the office of Alumni Relations, the Counseling Center, Work Life, Student Center and Physical Plant.

UK is the University for Kentucky.
