Building Alliances Through Cultural Diplomacy

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 12, 2016)  The University of Kentucky campus has the rare opportunity this month to learn about the United Arab Emirates and America.

“UAE & USA: Building Alliances through Cultural Diplomacy” will be discussed with Dana Al Marashi, head of the Heritage and Social Affairs Department in the UAE Embassy in Washington, D.C.

Marashi will discuss the current relationship between the U.S. and the UAE, in terms of cultural diplomacy and the arts, at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, in William T. Young Library Alumni Gallery.

A major touring exhibit of Emirati art opens April 16 through May 13 at the UK Bolivar Art Gallery in the new Art and Visual Studies Building. Visit http://uknow.uky.edu/content/contemporary-emirati-art-exhibit-makes-final-american-stop-uks-bolivar-gallery for more information.

Marashi’s visit to help the UK campus learn more about building alliances through cultural diplomacy is sponsored by the UK International Center, the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, the College of Fine Arts and Meridian International Center.
