An orphan raised by Santa's elves discovers he's not who he thought. Buddy (Ferrell) leaves the North Pole in search of his real father Walter (Caan). Along the way, he gets a job in a department store and meets Jovie (Deschanel) and falls in love. Together, Buddy and his new family must help Santa return the spirit of Christmas to New York City.
