Celebrate Korean Culture at the Korean Heritage Festival

of

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 21, 2015)  Student Activities Board’s Multicultural Affairs Committee and the Korean Student Association invite you to an outdoor celebration of various aspects of the Korean culture including dance, food, games and more  from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, in the Engineering Complex.

The celebration is being held the same week as the Busan Fireworks Festival that takes place every October in Busan, South Korea. The festival’s diverse programs of cultural events, high-tech laser light shows and show of unique and colorful fireworks make this one of South Korea’s most popular festivals, drawing crowds of over 1 million visitors each year. The campus community will be given a similar opportunity to participate in the much anticipated festivity.

There will be tables set up within the Engineering Complex that students can travel to throughout the night. Each table is designed to teach attendees something about Korean culture including history, traditions and games.

“The Korean Heritage Festival will be a fun celebration of South Korean culture,” said Lee Mengistu, SAB director of Multicultural Affairs. “Everyone is encouraged to come to this event to immerse themselves in a culture other than their own and experience a new perspective of life through Korean festivities.”

SAB brings more than 60 entertaining, educational and enriching programs that are reflective of contemporary issues and trends to the University of Kentucky annually. These programs are designed to enhance the college experience for students, faculty, staff, and the greater Lexington community.
