Celebrating our Community through the 2015 Cultural Diversity Festival

This week at the University of Kentucky is one of celebrations. We are celebrating our rich history with our Founders Week Sesquicentennial festivities - honoring our 150 years of service and commitment to the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

This week is also the beginning of the 26th annual University of Kentucky Cultural Diversity Festival. Throughout February and March we will explore and promote the distinctiveness and diversity that define our campus family, the region, and emphasize the immeasurable value in understanding, accepting and celebrating our community.

This is a special place, with more than 30,000 students from across our state, nation and world our campus is a microcosm of a larger, global community, which provides a rich and rewarding experience for all who see blue.

Join us on Wednesday, Feb. 25, for the festival's centerpiece event, A Taste of Our World. This event lets individuals explore cuisine from Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe and the Americas, and includes cultural exhibits.

I invite you to watch this video to learn more about the Cultural Diversity Festival and the 2015-16 Common Reading Experience book for new students. The diversity festival and Common Reading Experience are just a few ways that our campus grows by celebrating differences and fostering discussion.
