College of Arts and Sciences' Podcast Features the Diversity Project

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 5, 2012) - The College of Arts and Sciences produces podcasts that demonstrate work being done by the faculty and students in the college. Each week, UKNow will highlight a podcast. This week focuses on the Diversity Project.

An initiative dedicated to representing the diversity of the Lexington LGBT community, the Diversity Project is collecting knitted and crocheted squares to create a large piece of textile art. The blanket will be completed this month and auctioned off as part of the Lexington Pride Festival next summer.

Catherine Brereton, a double major in Gender and Women's Studies and English, and K.J. Rawson, a lecturer in  the Department of Writing, Rhetoric and Digital Media, are both involved in the initiative. In this podcast, the two contributors discuss the development, timeline and overall mission of the project.
