Communication Grad Student Quoted in Wall Street Journal

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 15, 2012) — Matthew Pavelek, a doctoral student and instructor in the University of Kentucky's Department of Communication, was quoted in an article in the Wall Street Journal about states contracting with veteran-owned businesses, on Friday, Jan. 13.

Pavelek, a U.S. Army Infantry veteran, spoke on behalf of the National Veteran-Owned Business Association (NaVOBA), which has promoted a nationwide “Buy Veteran” campaign. Pavelek also serves as managing editor for Victory Media, which publishes NaVOBA’s Vetrepreneur Magazine.

In 2011, UK was recognized as one of the top 10 "Best for Vets" colleges by Military Times' Edge magazine. UK was ranked No. 7 nationwide in a survey that places emphasis on academic accreditation, central veterans' offices and staff knowledgeable on veterans' issues.
