Diversity Dialogues: International Relations

of

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 3, 2011)  Calling all cosmopolitans, Diversity Dialogues: International Relations will take place at 7 p.m. tonight, Thursday, March 3, in the Center for Student Involvement smart classroom, 106 Student Center. This event is free and sponsored by the Student Activities Board (SAB).

Diversity Dialogues: International Relations will open up a conversation about how Americans are viewed abroad and the perception people have of Americans outside the United States. The discussion will also cover how international students are viewed and treated when coming to the United States. Students, faculty, staff and community members are encouraged to attend.

Jasmine Whitlow, director of SAB’s Multicultural Affairs Committee said, “Students should be culturally aware when they go outside of the United States and be understanding of those who are coming to the U.S. from other countries. This dialogue will provide students with a wide range of perspectives from students who have lived with international students, gone abroad, etc.”

The Diversity Dialogues series strives to create a welcoming and safe environment to dialogue about issues surrounding diversity and multiculturalism. The topics chosen are recurrent and allow the UK community to participate in a discussion in a safe and structured atmosphere.

The Student Activities Board (SAB) brings more than 100 events to the University of Kentucky annually that enhance the college experience by providing students, other members of the campus and the Lexington community with entertaining, educational or enriching programs that are reflective of contemporary issues and trends.
