Diversity on Display at the Lyric

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 22, 2013) — The grand finale of the University of Kentucky Diversity Festival wraps up another season with its third annual Diversity Festival at the Lyric at 7 p.m. Friday, March 22, at the Lyric Theatre in downtown Lexington.

Hosted by the UK Cultural Diversity Festival committee and the Lexington Fayette County Urban County Government, the event is a unique talent experience for members of the Lexington and university communities.

Debra Ross, co-chair of the Cultural Diversity Festival Committee, said, “We are excited to be hosting the third annual Diversity Festival at the Lyric. The success of the last two years has encouraged us to make this an annual event.”

The evening’s talent includes a special performance from UK’s Paws and Listen (an a cappella singing group), high energy swing dancing by the Hepcats Swing Dance Club, clogging from the Shack Shakin’ Hoedowners, a Hula Hoop performance by the Spinning Sisters (America’s Got Talent audition group), Spoken Word by Royce the Poet, the unique Bluegrass musical talent of The Dead Necks, and a grand finale by the soulful voice of Dajom Spades.

This event is a “don’t miss” opportunity to relax in the beautifully renovated Lyric Theatre, located at 300 E. 3rd Street, while experiencing a truly unique evening of talent. All for free admission.
