'Dream the Dream' With UK Opera’s 'Les Mis'
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 7, 2013) – The University of Kentucky Opera Theatre (UKOT) is bringing Alan Boublil and Claude Schönberg’s “Les Misérables” to Lexington for the first time as a full-Broadway length production. “Les Mis” will be presented for 13 public performances, Oct. 10-20, at the Lexington Opera House.
The Tony award-winning musical "Les Mis" follows the life of a convict, Jean Valjean, who breaks parole to find a fresh start. As a new man, he crosses paths with Fantine, a troubled young mother, and her daughter, Cosette. Set against the French Revolution, the mega-musical is a tale of misfortunes, forgiveness and love.
Tickets for "Les Misérables" range from $40.50-$76.50. Student tickets are available for a discounted price of $20.50 with a valid student ID. Tickets can be purchased through the Lexington Center Box Office in person at Rupp Arena or by calling 859-233-3535. Ticket fees will be added at time of transaction on phone orders.
A UK student-only preview will be presented 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Lexington Opera House and tickets are only $10. Students can purchase tickets to this preview in person at the Lexington Center Box Office. There is a purchase limit of two tickets with valid UK student ID and tickets must be purchased in advance of the Oct. 9 preview.
