LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 27, 2015) — The campus community can join the Student Actvities Board's Cultural Arts Committee at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, in the Rasdall Gallery to view the exhibit, "Your Body is Your Canvas," which is devoted to tattoos and the art of tattooing.

The "Your Body is Your Canvas" exhibit allows attendees to view the beauty of body art within the comfort of their own campus. They can admire one of this generation’s most popular forms of art and expression. The exhibit illustrates the care and intricacy of designing tattoos and highlights tattoo work from Kentucky artists and artists from other parts of the region.

“I am thrilled that the cultural arts will be able to utilize this exhibit as a tool to educate the UK community on a medium that is often accompanied by certain stigmas,” Taylor Hamilton, SAB director of Cultural Arts Committee, said. “I believe the exhibit will create pleasant discussions around body art.”

One of the artists will be present to speak about their work and talk to attendees about their creative process and growth. Professors Kremena Todorova and Kurt Gohde from Transylvania University will also be contributing images from their projects "Lexington Tattoo Project" and "Love Letter to the World."

The exhibit will be up and available for viewing until Friday, Feb. 27, during regular Student Center and Rasdall Gallery hours.

SAB brings more than 100 entertaining, educational and enriching programs that are reflective of contemporary issues and trends to the University of Kentucky annually. These programs are designed to enhance the college experience for students, faculty, staff and the greater Lexington community.
