ISSS Offers Courses for UK Administrators on Hiring International Faculty, Staff

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 11, 2013) — International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is offering courses for UK administrators to help them understand the process of employing international faculty and staff.

“ISSS is delighted to reach out to department administrators in order to support and facilitate the employment of international faculty and staff,” said Elizabeth Leibach, director of ISSS. “International faculty and staff are critical to the values embedded in internationalizing the campus.  Assisting departments in securing a diverse workforce is integral to our mission.”

The first training course, "Visa Services - H-1B Forms Review," will help administrators understand visa sponsorship when employing international faculty/staff. Attendees will learn the required visa forms and processes, which are necessary to employ and/or sponsor an international employee on H-1B visa status

The training course is highly recommended for administrators with HR or payroll functions as well as Integrated Business Units. Course registration is available in the employee self-service tab of the myUK portal.

The training course will take place in the Enterprise Learning Room H31B (basement of UK Chandler Hospital) from 1-4 p.m. on three dates: Friday, Oct. 18, Monday, Oct. 21, and Friday, Oct. 25.

In addition to visa services course, ISSS will also offer training courses in November on topics such as intercultural communication.  For more information contact Elizabeth Leibach, director, International Student and Scholar Services.
