Law Professor Poses 'Puzzles and Paradoxes' for Dinnertime Discussion

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 9, 2012) — Professor Richard Westin of the University of Kentucky College of Law has written a short book of paradoxes and puzzles designed for dinner table conversation with children, including answers.

It consists of classic paradoxes from ancient Greece, along with various modern puzzles. It is a collaborative work with his daughter that recreates many of the dinner table paradoxes and puzzles that fascinated his children at the ages of 8 and 10.

"As any parent knows, children's minds are clear and adept," Westin said. "These puzzles are often less trouble to them than to adults. It opens the door to interesting exchanges that help children to value thought."
