Leadership Kentucky to Honor Former UK President Lee Todd Today

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 5, 2013) – Leadership Kentucky Inc. (LKY), one of the oldest and most prestigious statewide leadership development programs in the U.S., will hold its 12th Annual Executive Forum and Luncheon in Lexington at the Hilton Downtown Lexington today from noon to 2:45 p.m.

Timothy Rutledge, LKY Class of 2004, and 2013 board chair, will kick off the event, followed by presentation of Leadership Kentucky's 2013 Flame of Excellence Award to Lee Todd, former president of the University of Kentucky.  Todd, LKY Class of 1988, was also a professor of electrical engineering at UK before leaving to pursue his own business ventures and eventually serving as UK's 11th president.

The Flame of Excellence award honors an outstanding Kentuckian, who bravely goes before and lights the way for others.

2004 – John R. Hall, retired chairman/CEO, Ashland Inc.

2006 – Wendell H. Ford, U.S. Senate, retired; founder, Wendell H. Ford Government Education Center

2007 – Albert P. Smith Jr., retired host of Kentucky Educational Television's “Comment on Kentucky”

2008 – David A. Jones, founder and former board chairman, Humana Inc.

2009 – Eula Hall, founder, Mud Creek Clinic

2010 – Owsley Brown Frazier, founder and chairman, Frazier International History Museum

2011 –Pearse T. Lyons, founder & CEO, Alltech

2012 – William T. Samuels, Jr., chairman emeritus, Maker’s Mark Distillery Inc.
