LGBTQ* Resources Hosts Inaugural Pride Week

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 11, 2016) — The University of Kentucky Office of LGBTQ* Resources will host its first Pride Week this week, April 11-16. Educational and social events take place throughout the week all around campus.

The purpose of Pride Week is to emphasize the diverse experiences of LGBTQ* students, faculty and staff at UK.

“Pride Week provides space to engage in important conversations that impact our communities and allow opportunities for us to grow together,” said Lance Poston, director of the Office of LGBTQ* Resources.

The week kicks off with information booths located at Bowmen’s Den and in front of Whitehall Classroom Building today, April 11, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Calendars of the Pride Week events will be available at the information booths as well as a free UK pride ribbon. Tonight from 5-7 p.m., in The 90, University Health Services (UHS) Sexperts will conduct a Healthy Sex Workshop and free HIV testing.
