Military Veterans at UK Will be Recognized in Veterans Day Ceremony

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 10, 2015) — Military veterans on the University of Kentucky campus will be recognized for their service in a special ceremony on Veterans Day.  Organized by the UK Veterans Resource Center, the ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, on the plaza behind the Main Building. The campus community is invited.

Among the speakers will be Tony Dotson, director of the Veterans Resource Center, and Jessica Wilson, president of the UK Student Veterans of America. Lapel pins representing the various branches of service will be distributed, and a chili lunch at Buell Armory will follow the ceremony.

UK is always ranked highly by Military Times magazine for the school's support of and dedication to military veterans. The Veterans Resource Center was established to provide veterans with assistance in transitioning to college life whether a veteran is entering college for the first time, transferring from another school, or returning after a deployment.

Some individual colleges on campus also plan events within their colleges to honor their military veteran students.
