'Miss Representation,' 'Drive' at Student Center

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 27, 2012) — The Late Night Film Series will screen “Miss Representation” at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, in collaboration with the VIP Center in Center Theater and “Drive” at 10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, in Worsham Theater. Admission to both films is free.

“Miss Representation” explores mainstream media’s contributions to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film weaves together stories from young teenage girls and interviews with powerful women, including Condoleezza Rice, Nancy Pelosi, and Katie Couric. (85 min. Unrated)

“Drive” tells the story of stunt driver by day, getaway driver by night, Driver (Ryan Gosling), a loner with little to say. One day he meets his neighbor, Irene (Carey Mulligan), and a romance soon blossoms. Their relationship is endangered, however, when Irene’s former husband, Standard, gets out of jail early. The spiteful ex has mob ties he wants to sever and Driver must reluctantly help him to protect Irene. (100 min. Rated R)

Worsham Theater is located on the first floor of the University of Kentucky Student Center Addition. Center Theater is located on the second floor of the Student Center.
