Move In at UK Impacts Parking

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 15, 2012) ― With the influx of new students and their parents headed to the University of Kentucky for Move-In Weekend and the need to quickly unload vehicles near residence halls, several areas of campus will be restricted to No Parking Zones only from 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, through 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17.

UK Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) says the impacted areas include:

•           Complex Drive, from University to Sports Center

•           Donovan Drive

•           Martin Luther King – Blazer Parking Lot (E/R1)

•           Sports Center Drive parking areas, with the exception of Parking Structure #7

•           University Drive on-street parking (East side)

On August 17-19, students and parents moving into the residence halls in the Kirwan-Blanding area will be offered three hours free parking in Parking Structure #7. Parking Structure #7 is located on Sports Center Drive. Those moving into North Campus residence halls may take advantage of three hours free parking in Parking Structure #5, located on South Limestone next to Kennedy Book Store.

All vehicles must be removed from Parking Structure #7 prior to its closing at 10 p.m. Overnight parking without prior approval from PTS is prohibited. Parking Structure #5 will remain open for K Week events througout the weekend; vehicles must be removed no later than 3 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20.

Members of the campus community are encouraged to tune into 1700 AM (WQKH 253) to hear campus parking and transportation information. The station broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
