Mullineaux Earns Robertson Award for Faculty Excellence

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 1, 2012) — Donald Mullineaux, the duPont Endowed Chair in Banking and Financial Services in the University of Kentucky's Gatton College of Business and Economics will be honored Thursday, March 1, as the 2012 recipient of the Kenneth N. Robertson Faculty Leadership Research Award.

The honor, which also carries a cash stipend, recognizes notable research achievements by a Gatton faculty member and is named in honor of the UK alumnus who currently serves as chair of the Gatton College Dean's Advisory Council, Kenneth Robertson.  The presentation will be made as part of the Gatton College Alumni Hall of Fame ceremonies in the Main Building's Lexmark Room.

Mullineaux has held the duPont Endowed Chair in Banking and Financial Services since 1984.  After receiving his doctorate from Boston College, he joined the staff of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, where he served as senior vice president and director of research from 1979-84.  Mullineaux has also held teaching appointments at a number of graduate schools of banking, including the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Temple University.  Mullineaux is widely published in the academic and financial press and has consulted with a variety of commercial and investment banks and government agencies.  He recently was re-elected to a four-year term on the board of directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) of Cincinnati, in the role of an independent director.  His articles have appeared in the Journal of Finance, the American Economic Review, the Journal of Political Economy, and the Journal of Financial Economics, among others.  He has extensive international experience, having lectured in Russia, Italy, France, England, Lithuania, Indonesia, Mexico and Austria.

"It is a great honor to receive this award," Mullineaux said.  "I continue to enjoy  teaching and mentoring students, conducting research projects, and taking on a variety of outreach roles.  I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with so many talented students and colleagues at UK."
