LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 24, 2013) — Each year, the University of Kentucky recognizes faculty and graduate students for outstanding teaching.
UK administration encourages the campus community to nominate deserving faculty members and graduate teaching assistants for distinguished teaching awards. The award is intended to identify and recognize individuals who demonstrate special dedication to student achievement and who are evincing meritorious success in their teaching. In short, the awards emphasize the university’s commitment to the importance of teaching as its vital core mission in the Commonwealth, the nation and the world.
A selection committee will review the nominees, collect additional information from nominators, and recommend approximately 10 winners to the Office of the Provost.
Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to submit a one-page initial nomination to the faculty member's (or teaching assistant’s) department chair before the deadline, which is 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8. The deadline for department chairs to submit nominations to the Office of the Associate Provost for Faculty Advancement is Friday, Feb. 15. All submissions are to be made electronically.
