Office of eLearning Expands Teaching Technology Services

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 25, 2013) — University of Kentucky Academic Planning, Analytics and Technologies (APAT) announces the expansion of services for faculty teaching with technology through the Office of eLearning. 

The Office of eLearning assists UK faculty and departments with course and program development. The office also supports the creation and implementation of hybrid courses, online professional development and Massive Open Online Courses or MOOCs. Additionally, eLearning staff will focus on enhancing technology training opportunities for faculty and students.

Created to meet growing needs of both fully online and hybrid courses and modules, the Office of eLearning is staffed by instructional designers as well as multimedia and support personnel, and it works closely with other units in APAT to provide a broad range of experience. Lead instructional designer Kelley Cruse will serve as its manager.

The Office of eLearning and Distance Learning Programs are both part of the Academic Technology Group in APAT providing specific services to UK faculty and staff.

Distance Learning Programs supports UK’s online course delivery growth by focusing on policy and reporting needs, state authorization requirements and compliance, copyright issues and support materials, and distance learning assessment gathering and reporting. Distance Learning Programs Director Connie Baird will lead efforts in those areas, collaborating with several APAT units.
