OLLI at UK to Hold Open House for Fall Courses for Adults Age 50+

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 4, 2011) − Are you an adult age 50 or more and love to learn?  Would you like to meet people who have the same interests?  Come to the Open House for Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UK and join a dynamic group of more than 1,100 learners in Lexington who are discovering new interests every day.
 

Open House and registration will be 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17, at the Tates Creek Christian Church gymnasium at 3150 Tates Creek Road in Lexington.  At the event, participants can preview a selection of courses, choose from over 38 courses, events, programs, chat with instructors, hear about upcoming Donovan forums, meet the OLLI Advisory Board Members and sign up to help with any one of the numerous committees. They can also learn about upcoming day trips and Special Interest Groups, enjoy refreshments, and register for door prizes. 
 

Fall courses include Chinese Culture and Language, Dangerous Days – From Articles of Confederation to U.S. Constitution, genealogy, Lewis and Clark Expedition, Spaceship Earth, Scoop on Publishing, Actors Theatre: Improv, Tennessee Williams and Murder Mystery, Saturday Seminar on the Thoroughbred Racing Industry, along with studio art, fitness, performing arts, languages and special interest groups.    
 

Registration tables will be open during the event.  Annual membership through summer 2012 is $25. Course fees vary, however, most are $10.  For more information and registration materials, please contact the OLLI Office at (859) 257-2656.  Registration is now open and is on a first come basis.  Some courses may be filled by Open House, so call as soon as possible to be added to the mailing list.
