Parking and Transportation Reminders for Thanksgiving Break

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 21, 2011) — University of Kentucky football will host Tennessee Saturday, Nov. 26, and since the game will be taking place over the Thanksgiving weekend, students are reminded to move their vehicles from the areas surrounding Commonwealth Stadium before leaving for the break.

Students and employees who park at Commonwealth Stadium must move their vehicles before 9 a.m. on the days of home football games. Additionally, no parking is permitted on University Drive after 7 a.m. on game days. Failure to move any vehicle from the stadium parking lots or University Drive will result in a citation and/or impoundment at the owner’s expense. This includes the K lots, the E parking in the Red and Blue lots, the C6 lot, the Soccer/Softball Complex and the K/E lot next to Greg Page Apartments. In addition to the E spaces on University Drive, parking is prohibited in the motorcycle and metered spaces along the street after 7 a.m. on game days.

Students with K permits who are leaving their vehicles on campus during Thanksgiving break may move their vehicles to Parking Structure #2 (located on Rose Street, with the entrance off Hilltop Ave.) beginning at noon Tuesday, Nov. 22. The impacted students must relocate their vehicles to their normal parking area near Commonwealth Stadium by 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28.

Parking & Transportation Services’ (PTS) operations will have several other changes starting due to the decreased demand over the Thanksgiving holiday.

On Wednesday, Nov. 23, the regular CATS routes (Red, Blue and Yellow) and LexTran Stadium Route service will not be running. CATS buses will operate on the Summer/Break Route schedule from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Medical Center and Kentucky Clinic Routes will operate as normal.

No campus buses will run Thursday, Nov. 24 through Saturday, Nov. 26. On Sunday, Nov. 27, the CATS Bus On-Demand Service will run its normal schedule of 7 p.m.–midnight. All campus bus services will resume a normal schedule Monday, Nov. 28.

Campus parking lots will not be controlled for parking permits Thursday, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25.
