Pictures With Santa PAWS

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 24, 2015) Promoting Animal Welfare and Services (PAWS) is hosting its first ever Pictures with Santa PAWS!  Bring your dog for a photo shoot with Santa from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, in the School of Art and Visual Studies. There will be a $5 minimum donation per dog.

This event welcomes all friendly dogs to take a picture with Santa. All donations benefit a local, nonprofit rescue called Homeward Bound Canine Rescue and Rehabilitation. Homeward Bound provides assistance to local high kill shelters by placing dogs in forever homes as opposed to euthanizing them. They also provide assistance to numerous animal control officers in caring for abused, neglected, injured and aggressive dogs in need of emergency care until rehabilitated and placed into safe rescues or homes.

PAWS is a student volunteer organization that is dedicated to the welfare of animals.  The organization strives to educate the public, breaking down the walls of discrimination of "bully-breeds" and taking a stand against breed specific legislation through such education.  PAWS organizes several local volunteer opportunities with reputable animal adoption and welfare organizations. Its mission is to positively impact the lives of animals in need through volunteer efforts, educating the public and advocating for those who need a voice.

The School of Art and Visual Studies is located at 236 Bolivar Street. Enter from the Bolivar Street parking lot entrance and follow the signs. Free parking is provided in the lot outside of the building.

PAWS is a program housed in the UK Center for Community Outreach. The CCO seeks to serve, connect and unite the University of Kentucky with the surrounding community in collaborative efforts to promote life-long community service.
