PTS Hosts Annual Free Fourth of July Fireworks Viewing

LEXINGTON, Ky.  (June 27, 2013)  — University of Kentucky Parking & Transportation Services (PTS) invites the UK community to its annual fireworks viewing on the top deck of Parking Structure #5, in conjunction with Lexington’s Independence Day celebration. Parking Structure #5 is located on South Limestone, next to Kennedy Book Store.

Any member of the university community possessing a valid UK parking permit may park in the structure free of charge to view the fireworks from the upper level.

Those planning to attend the fireworks viewing may enter the parking garage only from the South Limestone side. The gates will open at 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 4. The top deck lights will be turned off during the display to enhance the viewing experience.

Patrons are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs, and food and drink are permitted. Portable restroom facilities and trash receptacles will be available on site.

Alcoholic beverages, grills, open fires, and all fireworks, including sparklers, are prohibited. No animals are allowed, with the exception of service animals. The University of Kentucky Police Department will be present to enforce these restrictions.
