UK Department of Family and Community Medicine About Event
Organized by several universities in Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia, the conference goal is to bring together faculty and other professionals, medical residents, students and community members from a broad spectrum of disciplines, to reflect the growing and changing field of global health. The objective of the conference is to expand beyond the horizons of our own fields and disciplines, assess how our understanding of global health is changing and discuss ways in which we need to collaborate to better overcome the obstacles and maximize the results of our efforts across boundaries. The conference will also serve as a venue to those new to global health to learn about different opportunities of how to get involved, both in other countries, as well as in our own back yard; and for those who have experience working in global health to exchange experiences, share successes and failures and expand future work inter-professionally. Plenary Speaker: To be introduced by University of Kentucky President Eli Capilouto. Michael Merson, MD is the founding director of the Duke Global Health Institute, Professor of Global Health and Professor of Medicine at Duke University.
