Register Now for CCTS Spring Conference

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 28, 2013) - With the theme of Building Teams for Translational Science, the Center for Clinical and Translational Science Spring Conference will showcase research in five concurrent conferences:

•           8th Annual CCTS Spring Conference

•           Community Faculty / Kentucky Practice-Based Research Networks Collaborative

•           29th Annual Spring Neuroscience Research Day (BGSFN)

•           UK College of Dentistry Research Day

•           UK College of Public Health Research Day

The opening plenary session features John McDevitt, Rice University, who has led multiple teams of researchers in developing the programmable bio-nano-chip for use in diagnostics.  The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Christopher Austin, Director, National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences.

Highlights of the Community Faculty/Kentucky PBRN Collaborative Conference include presentations by Dr. Joseph Conigliaro on use of electronic medical records and claims data for quality improvement and research, a session to foster collaborations in community-engaged research, and the experiences of Dr. H. David Wilson in 17 years of engaging community physicians in rural North Dakota and Kansas. 

The Spring Neuroscience Research Day sponsored by the Bluegrass Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience will feature two internationally known experts on glial regulation and dysfunction, Linda Watkins, University of Colorado; and Phil Haydon, Tufts University School of Medicine and the Sackler School of Biomedical Sciences.

The conference will include with research roundtables, junior scholar presentations, and a poster session featuring research from students, postdocs, residents, and junior faculty.
