In With a Ruckus, Out With a Bang!

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 18, 2012) — As this academic year comes to a close, celebrate in a huge way at The Big Finish, a multi-day celebration of the end of another school year starting Wednesday, April 18, and running through Friday, April 20. This event is free and is sponsored by the Student Activities Board.

The three-day celebration will incorporate old SAB spring traditions as well as new traditions for students to enjoy. It is also a way to celebrate our graduating students. Member of the community are also encouraged to come out and enjoy the festival.

Events will kick off Wednesday with the annual Ping Pong Ball Drop. Be prepared as thousands of ping pong balls rain from the sky at 11:52 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, in front of Patterson Office Tower.

Later in the evening join SAB and the UK Alumni Association for Wildcat Finale, the perfect event for seniors to say farewell and gather one last time before officially becoming UK alumni from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Commonwealth Stadium. Wildcat Finale will feature free food and drinks, music, T-shirts, door prizes, special guests and more!

On Thursday, get ready to jam at the Spring Concert featuring J.Cole and Gym Class Heroes at 8 p.m. in Memorial Coliseum. Tickets can be purchased from the Student Center Ticket Office weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and general public tickets can be purchased at any Ticketmaster location or online at http://www.ticketmaster.com. Walk-up tickets will also be available for purchase at the concert at the Joe Craft Center, but students and community members are encouraged to purchase tickets prior to the night of the show.

On Friday the whole week will end with a bang at a huge Block Party from 6-10 p.m. Friday, April 20, on South Limestone. This carnival-esque block party will feature activities such as face painting, tattoo booths, inflatables, cotton candy, popcorn and more!

“[The Big Finish] is happening right alongside the Spring Concert to create a huge, fun-filled week for students and the community to enjoy toward the end of the semester,” said SAB Director of the Traditions Committee Bryce Moffet.

The Student Activities Board brings more than 100 entertaining, educational and enriching programs that are reflective of contemporary issues and trends to the University of Kentucky annually. These programs are designed to enhance the college experience for students, faculty, staff and the greater Lexington community.
