SCAPA Students to Honor Dr. Martin Luther King in Song

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 17, 2013) - Students from Lexington's School for the Creative and Performing Arts (SCAPA) will present a performance honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  from 1-2 p.m. on Friday in the UK Chandler Hospital's Pavilion A Atrium Lobby.

 

For the second year in a row, students in grades six through 8, under the direction of performing arts teacher Millie Fields, will perform various songs form the Civil Rights Movement including "Lift Every Voice and Sing" and "We Shall Overcome" and present a recitation of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech.

 

The event is from 1-2 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
