Schools Make a Triumphant Return

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 20, 2012) – The entertainment schedule for the University of Kentucky Cats Den has something for all this week.

The Cats Den will host a FIFA 12 Tournament at 7 p.m. today, Feb. 20. FIFA 12 was released on Sept. 27 and quickly created a loyal, nationwide fan base.  Those wishing to participate in the tournament are invited to arrive at 6 p.m. for practice; the Cats Den is offering participants free play. During the tournament, players will have the opportunity to win prizes. Even if students do not want to compete, they are welcome as spectators.

On Wednesday, Feb. 22, head out to the Cats Den at 8 p.m. to see the hilarious Matthew Lumpkin at Comedy Caravan.  Matthew Lumpkin has been captivating audiences around the nation with his southern charm, intelligence and common-sense philosophy for decades. However, Lumpkin raises the bar far past the stereotypical “Southern” style comedy with his fast paced story-telling ability and irresistible charismatic stage-presence. Due to his natural ability and well-crafted material, Lumpkin has traveled overseas to entertain the armed forces and has been frequently featured on CMT.  Matthew Lumpkin also performs with Patrick Jolle as part of the Saints and Sinners Comedy Tour. This will be Lumpkin’s second performance at UK.

Then, at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, there’s a free concert by Schools of Bowling Green, Ky. Known for their homegrown style of honest rock, Schools will have you on your feet all night long. Schools has had the privilege of sharing the stage with artists such as Cage The Elephant, Sleeper/Agent, Morning Teleportation, and Biffy Clyro just to name a few. The concert will feature an opening performance by Cameron Jayne & 86 Black.

The Cat’s Den is located on the first floor of the University of Kentucky’s Student Center. All of the events hosted by the Cats Den are free of charge to students, staff and faculty.
