Senator Rand Paul to Speak at UK March 27

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 22, 2013) — U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) will speak at the University of Kentucky Wednesday, March 27.  The title of his presentation is  “Restoring Economic Freedom”  and the event is scheduled for 2 to 3 p.m. in the Worsham Theatre of the UK Student Center.

The event is sponsored by the BB&T Program of UK's Gatton College of Business and Economics.  The BB&T Program was established by a gift from the BB&T Corporation to promote research and teaching regarding understandings of free enterprise.

“The Gatton College and its BB&T Program are pleased to host Senator Rand Paul," said John Garen, Gatton Endowed Professor of Economics at UK.  "One goal of the college’s BB&T Program is to gain accurate and objective understandings of free enterprise vis-à-vis other economic and social systems.  The role of government is crucial in this regard and Senator Paul articulates a noteworthy viewpoint on these matters.  I anticipate that our students, as well as the entire university community, will benefit from being able to hear from an important policy maker as Senator Paul.”

The event is free and open to the public.
