UK Appreciation Day Musicians Needed

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 20, 2013) — The Appreciation Day Commission invites musicians to audition for UK Appreciation Day to be held Thursday, May 16.

Appreciation Day is an event that combines the former Staff Appreciation Day and Fun Night.  It has been set aside as a time to celebrate community, to express appreciation for the work and dedication of staff, faculty and their families.

The day will offer food, live music, dance, carnival rides, door prizes, exhibits, UK T-shirts, special guests and more — all free.

One musical act will be selected to provide live music from 4-5 p.m.

Music genres preferred are country/southern rock, blues, jazz, R&B and contemporary/soft rock. Each act must have at least one current member who is a UK staff or faculty member.

Live auditions will be held in the Student Center Small Ballroom on March 19, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Audition forms are due March 5, and acts selected to audition live will be notified by March 12. Acts also may make electronic submissions that are due March 19.

Audition forms are available on the Staff Senate website at http://www.uky.edu/staffsenate/sites/www.uky.edu.staffsenate/files/Musical%20Acts%20Audition%20Form%202013%20Official.pdf

Questions may be directed to Mike Bratcher, michael.bratcher@uky.edu or Holly Clark, hclark@uky.edu.

Appreciation Day is sponsored by the Office of the President, coordinated by the Staff Senate and brought to you by the Appreciation Day Commission.
