UK Energy Club Offers Opportunities to 'Plug In'

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 8, 2013) — The UK Energy Club is getting underway with an exciting schedule of events for the 2013-2014 school year. Formed to create energy awareness campus-wide, the UK Energy Club is open to all UK students, regardless of college or major.

The club meets at 6:30 p.m.every Tuesday in Room 259 of the F. Paul Anderson Tower. The first meeting is tonight, and all are welcome to attend. Other upcoming events include: 

  • "Meet and Greet," including a tour of FoodChain's indoor food-production facilities, starting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at West Sixth Brewing, 501 W. Sixth St.
  • "Big Blue Goes Green: A Sustainability Showcase," from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, in the Frank Harris Grand Ballroom of the UK Student Center. 
  • UK heating (power) plant tour, at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Central Heating Plant No. 2, 589 S. Upper St. 

The UK Energy Club is part of a network of university-based, student-driven clubs funded by a grant from the Department for Energy Development and Independence of the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet. These clubs provide energy awareness to students through seminars and tours and engage students in energy-related campus projects.
