UK Fun Night Call for Musical Acts

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 1, 2011) — Musicians are being sought for the second University of Kentucky Fun Night to be held Thursday, May 19, 2011. Three musical acts will be selected to provide live music from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Genres of music that will be considered are soft rock, jazz, country, and country rock, and each act must have at least one current member who is a UK faculty or staff member.  One judge will be used from each of the following areas: President’s Office, Finance & Administration, University Senate, Staff Appreciation Day Commission, and UK Public Relations.

Judges are prohibited from having a connection to any musical act.

Audition forms are due March 15, and acts selected to perform will be notified by March 29. Forms are available on the Staff Senate website at www.uky.edu/staffsenate. For questions regarding the audition process, contact Mike Adams, chair of the Staff Appreciation Day Commission, at mdadam0@email.uky.edu.

UK Fun Night is a special event to thank faculty and staff for their valuable work and dedication. The night’s offerings include free everything -- food, entertainment, inflatables, carnival rides and more. Faculty and staff are encouraged to bring their families to the event.

Fun Night is organized by members of the Staff Appreciation Day Commission who represent many departments of the campus community. The event is sponsored by the offices of President Lee T. Todd and Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration Frank Butler and the Staff Senate.
