UK Health Plan Urgent Care Clinic Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 21, 2014) -- A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Jan. 16 to mark the official opening of the new UK Health Plan Urgent Care Clinic. Although UK employees have been keeping the appointment books full for almost two weeks already.

"We've been near capacity every day but one since the clinic opened, and many of the appointments are booked by mid-morning," said Dr. Ann Hays, medical director for University Health Service.

The UK Health Plan Urgent Care Clinic is an on-site clinic for UK employees who participate in one of the UK health plans (HMO, PPO, EPO and RHP).

At the ribbon cutting ceremony that marked the clinic's official opening, University of Kentucky President Dr. Eli Capilouto emphasized that the new clinic was an important resource for UK faculty and staff.

"One of the common phrases I like to use is 'family first,'" Capilouto said. "This clinic marks an effort by our family of faculty, staff, clinicians and researchers to provide our family of UK employees with faster and easier access to health care when they need it."

The clinic is located in the University Health Services Building at 830 S. Limestone.  Hours are Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Same-day appointments will be available by calling 323-SICK (7425). The clinic is also open to dependents of UK Health Plan members who are over age 18.
