UK HealthCare Adds Thoracic Surgeon to its Team

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 21, 2012) — A new specialist has joined the thoracic surgery team at UK HealthCare.

Dr. Jeremiah Martin, an assistant professor of surgery in the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, specializes in thoracic surgery and oncology, minimally invasive surgery utilizing the da Vinci Surgical System, and foregut surgery.

Martin received his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He completed a general surgery residency at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven, Conn., and a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at UK Chandler Hospital. He also completed a lung transplant/minimally invasive thoracic surgery fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C.
 

Martin will primarily see patients who have lung, esophageal or other thoracic malignancies, though he will also assess and treat other general thoracic problems including reflux and paraesophageal hernia. Additionally, Martin will be involved in lung cancer screening and research at UK.
