UK HealthCare Fields Team for the Holiday Heart Run Challenge

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 22, 2013) -- University of Kentucky Heart Runners are dashing through the snow for a good cause by completing the Holiday Heart Run Challenge.

To raise money for the American Heart Association, UK faculty and staff from the Center for Muscle Biology, the Saha Cardiovascular Research Center and the Gill Heart Institute will attempt to run a 5K or run for 25 minutes every day during the month of December -- even on Christmas Day. 

The team’s goal is to raise $2,500 before Dec. 31. The American Heart Association will use proceeds from the run to fund research, develop new therapies and improve education about public health.
