UK HealthCare To Promote Services at Roots & Heritage Festival

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 7, 2011) — Several groups from UK HealthCare will participate in this year's Roots & Heritage Festival to promote services provided to the community.

The Polk-Dalton Clinic will provide informational handouts, free blood pressure checks and information on how the clinic serves the community - particularly those community members who are underserved.

The clinic provides health care to Lexington's north side and urban communities, offering convenient OB/GYN, internal medicine and dental services.

"We want to promote health awareness, and we also want to let members of the communities we serve know that we are there to provide much-needed services to them and members of their family," said Anita Hartsfield, business manager for The Polk-Dalton Clinic.

Also participating from UK HealthCare will be the Young Parent Program from Adolescent Medicine; the UK College of Dentistry (providing free dental screenings and free dental hygiene supplies); the UK Stroke Unit (providing free stroke screenings); and UK's Clinical Research Organization (providing information and recruitment on current research studies).

UK HealthCare participants will be on site outside the Polk-Dalton Clinic at the corner of 3rd Street and Elm Tree Lane on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"We encourage everyone to come out and support not only our efforts, but also experience the rich culture of the community," Hartsfield said.
