UK Opera Goes a Caroling with the Lexington Community

Published: Dec 7, 2012

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 7, 2012)Alltech and University of Kentucky Opera Theatre invite the public to lend their voices to the seventh annual "Alltech Holiday Celebration of Song" at either 5 or 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Victorian Square Atrium, located at the corner of W. Main St. and N. Broadway in downtown Lexington. This is the first year two sing-along holiday concerts will be presented. Both are free and open to the public.

Director of UK Opera Theatre Everett McCorvey takes to the conductor's podium to lead the Victorian Square Orchestra and award-winning vocalists from UK Opera Theatre in "Celebration of Song."

In addition to UK talents, "Celebration of Song" also highlights the voices and musical talents of the Bluegrass community. This event encourages the public to become part of the concert and sing along to a great selection of well-known seasonal songs and carols.

UK Opera Theatre is part of the UK School of Music at the UK College of Fine Arts. The School of Music has garnered national recognition for high-caliber education in opera, choral and instrumental music performance, as well as music education, composition, theory and music history.
