UK Police Department Issues Crime Bulletin

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 22, 2012) ― In the interest of safety, the University of Kentucky Police Department has issued the following Crime Bulletin for the UK community following the report of a robbery on campus:

At approximately 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, a robbery occurred in the sidewalk area of Complex Drive near the Johnson Student Recreation Center on the University of Kentucky campus.  The victim, a female UK student, was approached by one unknown male subject.  He reportedly took the victim’s cell phone from her hand without causing any injury.  No weapons were seen or implied during the course of the crime. 

The suspect is described as a thin black male with short hair, approximately 18 to 20 years old, 5’10” to 6’ tall, and wearing a gray T-shirt with red lettering and khaki shorts.  The suspect was last seen running up the steps toward the Kirwan-Blanding Complex on south campus.

•           Park in well-lit areas when possible.

•           Turn over any requested items (purse, wallet, etc.).

•           Make statements with authority – “BACK-OFF! STOP! NO-WAY!” You deserve to be respected.
