UK Sophomore Creates Original TV Show for Campus
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 25, 2013) – UK sophomore Kelly Moore is proud to call herself an executive producer. She is the creator of a hip-culture television show called "The Elite List," featured on Wildcat Student TV.
The Louisville native spent an entire summer planning and organizing the show, which went into production in Fall 2012. Her show features a round-table conversation about a specific topic for each week, with several outside interviews from students around campus.
"Everyone has a different opinion and I'm always willing to listen to someone's stories," Moore said.
"The Elite List" features a variety of topics, from hip-hop music, to fashion, to addressing gender stereotypes. Moore says the message of her show is simple: "I want people to go outside the box and try to understand something they're unfamiliar with."
Moore even chose her major for that very reason.
"Television can reach the masses and that's why I'm in Media Arts & Studies, to communicate with the masses," Moore said.
She is also picking up new skills that will help her in the future.
"I would have never even touched a Mac computer, let alone used advanced editing software had it not been for UK," Moore said.
"The Elite List" has spread all across campus and has become a cultural phenomenon in a single semester.
"There's no one doing what I'm doing, and that's not sounding cocky, its just reality," Moore said.
Moore vows to spend the rest of her time at UK to continue to get her message across to as many people on campus as possible, thanks to the help of the Wildcat Student TV and the University of Kentucky.
