LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 3, 2013) ― How can you help multiple people and make an impact in several communities with one donation?  Through a fundraising campaign each fall, the United Way of the Bluegrass and the University of Kentucky work together to create better communities in Central Kentucky.

UK's United Way Campaign began Oct. 1 and runs through the month of October.

This year an important change to the campaign allows employees to make their payroll deduction contributions directly through their myUK- Employee Self Service-Benefits tab.  Entering a pledge through myUK-Employee Self Service eliminates the need for a paper pledge form while enhancing the privacy and efficiency of the campaign.  However, donations of cash, check, or other method will continue to be accepted by a paper pledge form.

Last fall, university employees generously donated over $354,000 to the United Way of the Bluegrass.  The community impact of employees' donations, along with donations in the region, helped enough people to fill Rupp Arena five times.  One in three Central Kentuckians receive help through a United Way agency each year gaining access to education, income, and health resources.

The campus-wide goal for the 2013 UK-United Way campaign is $375,000.  To make an important impact in the Bluegrass community, employees can make contributions at myUK-Employee Self Service-Benefits tab.  Visit www.uky.edu/UW for more information regarding the UK United Way campaign.
