LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 14, 2014) — The world famous Harlem Globetrotters will welcome another highly acclaimed performance group to the floor this weekend when the University of Kentucky's acoUstiKats join the Globetrotters’ 2014 "Fans Rule" World Tour on its stop in the Bluegrass 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, at Rupp Arena.

The acoUstiKats, who recently competed on the popular NBC TV show, "The Sing-Off,"

have been invited by the Globetrotters to perform approximately 30 minutes prior to tip-off, before the opening tip and during halftime (performance schedule subject to change).

Billed as having "Southern charm with a whole lot of swag," the acoUstiKats are an all-male a cappella group functioning as a subsection of the nationally mrenowned and award-winning UK Men’s Chorus.

Fans will also once again have a hand in the outcome of the game, as fans can choose which new game-changing rules they want to see in the game via online voting at www.harlemglobetrotters.com/rule. The Globetrotters’ show features mesmerizing ball handling, an amazing assortment of trick shots and high-flying dunks — all with an array of comedy guaranteed to entertain the whole family.  After virtually every game, Globetrotter stars remain on the court for autographs and photographs with fans.

Tickets for the Jan. 19 performance start at $24 and can be purchased online at www.harlemglobetrotters.com or www.ticketmaster.com, in person at the Rupp Arena box office, or by phone at 800-745-3000. Information on group and scout tickets can also be found at www.harlemglobetrotters.com.

The Harlem Globetrotters® are celebrating their 88th consecutive year, continuing a world famous tradition of ball handling wizardry, basketball artistry and one-of-a-kind family entertainment that continues to thrill fans of all ages. Throughout their history, the original Harlem Globetrotters have showcased their iconic talents in 122 countries and territories on six continents, often breaking down cultural and societal barriers while providing fans with their first-ever basketball experience. Proud inductees of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, the Globetrotters have entertained hundreds of millions of fans — among them popes, kings, queens and presidents — over more than eight thrilling decades.

The acoUstiKats were founded in 1993 during Director of UK Choral Activities Jefferson Johnson's first semester at UK School of Music in the UK College of Fine Arts. This 12-member group serves to promote and encourage male singing of all ages.
