UK's acoUstiKats to Perform for Harlem Globetrotters
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 14, 2014) — The world famous Harlem Globetrotters will welcome another highly acclaimed performance group to the floor this weekend when the University of Kentucky's acoUstiKats join the Globetrotters’ 2014 "Fans Rule" World Tour on its stop in the Bluegrass 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, at Rupp Arena.
The acoUstiKats, who recently competed on the popular NBC TV show, "The Sing-Off,"
have been invited by the Globetrotters to perform approximately 30 minutes prior to tip-off, before the opening tip and during halftime (performance schedule subject to change).
Billed as having "Southern charm with a whole lot of swag," the acoUstiKats are an all-male a cappella group functioning as a subsection of the nationally mrenowned and award-winning UK Men’s Chorus.
Fans will also once again have a hand in the outcome of the game, as fans can choose which new game-changing rules they want to see in the game via online voting at www.harlemglobetrotters.com/rule. The Globetrotters’ show features mesmerizing ball handling, an amazing assortment of trick shots and high-flying dunks — all with an array of comedy guaranteed to entertain the whole family. After virtually every game, Globetrotter stars remain on the court for autographs and photographs with fans.

The acoUstiKats were founded in 1993 during Director of UK Choral Activities Jefferson Johnson's first semester at UK School of Music in the UK College of Fine Arts. This 12-member group serves to promote and encourage male singing of all ages.
