Volunteer Opportunities Available for WUKY Fund Drive

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 21, 2011)WUKY, the University of Kentucky's NPR station, will connect with listeners across Central Kentucky during its 2011 Fall Fund Drive, Thursday, Sept. 29 to Friday, Oct. 7.  The public radio station is looking for volunteers to assist during those days.

"We need groups, organizations and individuals who are willing to help answer calls and take pledges from our listeners," said Robert Hansel, WUKY membership manager.  "Computers are now available for all volunteers to take pledges, entering them in automatically, making the transaction seamless and more cost effective for the donor and station."

For any organization or group that is able to provide multiple volunteers for a day or multiple shifts, WUKY will announce on air that the phones are being answered by volunteers from that group or organization during the designated times.

"We are listener supported, with a loyal audience," Hansel said, "but we need the help of wonderful volunteers to make the fund drive a success."

Anyone wanting more information or to registar to volunteer can call Hansel at (859) 257-3272 or email robert.hansel@uky.edu.  Volunteer hours are available any time within these hour ranges:
