Walk Bike Summit to be Held April 11-12

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 29, 2013) ― University of Kentucky cyclists are invited to attend Kentucky Rails to Trails Council’s Walk Bike Summit, to be held Thursday, April 11 and Friday, April 12 in Frankfort.  UK is an official planning partner of the summit, and two university representatives will make a presentation there.  Shane Tedder, UK sustainability coordinator, and Stuart Kearns, UK Parking and Transportation Services associate director for transportation services, will discuss bike and pedestrian friendly town/gown infrastructure projects on Rose, Maxwell and Limestone streets on UK's campus.

The summit will feature topics such as bicycle/pedestrian advocacy and bicycle/pedestrian education; attendees will also be able to choose from several hands-on clinics. Featured speakers include Andy Clarke, president of the League of American Bicyclists and Mark Fenton, a national expert on walkable communities.
