WUKY Rock & Roots Movie Series Returns to Lexington's Kentucky Theatre

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 8, 2016) — The WUKY Rock & Roots Movie Series, an assemblage of six award-winning music documentaries, debuts Monday, April 11, and continues every Monday night through May 16 at the Kentucky Theatre, 214 East Main St. Mike Graves, WUKY's music director, will once again host the popular series. All movies begin at 7:15 p.m. and tickets are $6 each at the theater's box office.

Martin Scorsese's "Shine a Light," starring the Rolling Stones will kick off the series Monday, April 11. Watch the trailer.

The full series schedule is as follows:

April 11 - "Shine a Light"

April 18 - "The Wrecking Crew," about a group of studio musicians from the 1960s

April 25 - "Jerry Wexler: Immaculate Funk" profiles the record producer credited with making rhythm and blues popular in the 1970s

May 2 - "Muscle Shoals," which celebrates Rick Hall, the founder of FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama

May 9 - "Wattstax,"  about a Stax Records-sponsored all-day concert at the 1972 Watts Summer Festival with performances by artists such as Isaac Hayes and The Staples Singers 

May 16 - "B.B. King: The Life of Riley," a 2012 release on the life of the blues legend who died last year
